How the Stress Genes in Certain Plants Help Regulate Human Immunity
The immune systems of plants have to respond to the stress they are exposed to in response to changes in the environment. A plant cannot run away or hide. It responds to the stress by turning on genes that regulate an immune response to the challenges.
When these genes are turned on in response to the changing environment, that results in the production of specific phytonutrient compounds. These compounds, when ingested by people, in turn modify how the genes that regulate the function of their immune systems are influenced.
This Zoominar discusses how tissue-specific immunity is influenced by our changing world, and how specific plants that produce immuno-modulating phytonutrients from their exposure to both biotic and abiotic stress can be used as therapeutic foods and concentrates for improving human immune resilience.
